I was on two podcasts this week.

On each one, I shared some of my personal story.

Did you know that I was addicted to drugs (some heavy duty ones) from age 16 to 33?

Yep, I was an all-star athlete through grade school and into the beginning of high school.

But then, I decided to try smoking weed and I enjoyed it.

Way too much to be honest.

I quickly lost interest in sports and my life went down a completely different path.

I lost my sense of purpose.

One time in high school and one time in college, I had serious encounters with the law.

By the grace of God, I avoided jail time in both of those situations.

I also had a psychic tell me I knocked on death’s door on two different occasions because of how badly I was abusing drugs.

In November of 2015, I was introduced to a beautiful soul (inside and out) on a blind date ~ her name was Helen.

By our third date, she told me I had a decision to make – it was a life with her in it, or it was a life with drugs in it.

I couldn’t have both.

That night, I drove home and called a friend and told them I had a bag of weed that I no longer wanted, because my obvious choice was a life with Helen in it.

I dropped off my bag of weed and haven’t touched a drug since that night.

Helen and I met in November of 2015 and we were engaged by March of 2016 ~ when you know, you know.

Since then, my life has exponentially gotten better.

I regained my sense of purpose.

I’m married to the love of my life.

We have two absolutely beautiful and amazing children.

Our core business has exploded and continues to grow year over year. We are launching a second business within the next month or two.

I developed a passion for fitness.

I could go on and on, but I’ll leave you with this.

No matter where you are in your life, you’re just one decision away from turning your dreams into reality.

Yes, it’s difficult.

Yes, there will be times when you want to quit.

But, if you stick with it and keep doing the right thing, keep taking care of yourself and the people you love, keep the fire inside you burning strong, I have no doubt in my mind you can achieve whatever your heart desires.

Because if I did it, you can do it.

I’ll see you on the battlefield.
